Liam Gauci is a Maltese maritime historian and author whose work explores the intersection of food, war, and seafaring in the Mediterranean. His most recent book, Morte o Fortuna, follows in the wake of his acclaimed earlier study, In the Name of the Prince, cementing his reputation as a leading voice on 18th-century Maltese corsairs and naval trade.

Today, Liam serves as Senior Asset Development Manager at Heritage Malta, where he oversees national heritage initiatives, major exhibitions, and international loans. He is an active contributor to public history, having worked with broadcasters and historians such as Dan Snow and Sam Willis to bring Malta’s rich maritime past to international audiences through podcasts, documentaries, and cultural events.
